Regional Sales Manager/Senior Sales Engineer International Title Equivalents position may be referred to by the following titles in specific countries: • Regional Sales Manager III: USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, S Amer., India • Senior Sales Engineer: Australia, New Zealand, South Africa
Purpose of Position: The primary role of this position is to actively promote the company’s products and services to a defined customer base within an assigned geographic territory. Responsible for strategic sales targeting large plants, accounts with multiple influencers and managing the distribution network. Projects are large in $$ revenue and the sales cycle is generally longer than that of the RSMI/SSE.
Essential Functions • Perform all sales activity within an assigned geographic territory. • Annually submit and implement a detailed sales plan identifying: sales objectives, sales opportunities, major customers, and regional shows to be attended during the following fiscal year. • Participate in sales activities including: customer site visits, telephone contacts, trade seminars and shows, product demonstrations, customer seminars and channel management. • Coordinate distributor training activities to achieve corporate objectives. • Maintain customer activity files. • Assist in maintaining a mail list for customers in the assigned territory. • Collects and reports information on all competitive activity within the assigned territory.
Other Non-Essential Functions • Mentor the growth and development of the RSMI/SSE • Provide key field input in corporate programs including market research, Kaizen events and equipment beta testing. • Monitor and report upon market trends, regulatory drivers and competitive threats • Other duties as assigned.
Education, Background and Skill Requirements • BA or BS degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biology, Environment Sciences or equivalent work experience required. Alternate science degrees or sales experience will be considered. • Experience managing a minimum of $500k - $1.5m in annual revenues. • Instrumentation or Capital equipment sales experience five – 7 years in similar products and services preferred. • Formal sales training is required, but may be obtained immediately after employment. • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Sales Logic, and the Internet. • The proven ability to achieve superior personal sales results and results working through channel partners. • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good motor vehicle driving record. • Must be willing and able to travel within a defined region.
