The combination of the First Quantum and Inmet assets has created one of the world’s leading copper producers with a geographically diversified portfolio of high-quality operations and development projects in eight countries across five continents.

With a strategic plan to produce more than 1 million tonnes per annum of copper within five years, the Company is poised to become the largest, widely-held pure-play copper producer and one of the top five copper producers in the world.We are currently seeking a talented Commodities Officer to join our Commercial department.

Key Accountabilities and Challenges

Providing support to the Commodities Superintendent in the planning, execution and administration of import contracts for thesupply of steam coal for the Power Plant and export contracts for Copper and Molybdenum concentrates and Gold Silver Dore to endmarkets which will include but may not be limited to the following activities:

Operates within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the area of operation.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on contractual and financial matters affecting MPSA with respect to Coal and mineproduction commodities; specifically Copper and Molybdenum concentrates and Gold Silver Dore.
Assist in the tracking of vessels for shipment purposes once Charter Party has been established from arrival to departure andfinal discharge of cargo at destination Port.
Assist in organizing copper and molybdenum concentrate shipments and prepare the Proforma, Provisional and Final sales invoices in MINEMAN (Sales System).
Ensure appropriate reconciliations are completed for MCT´s account, sales revenue and selling costs on a timely basis.Check the accuracy of data uploaded (i.e. metal grade, moisture, etc...) in MINEMAN.
Ensure that the selling and commercial costs of copper and molybdenum concentrate sales, coal purchases; such as concentrate transportation cost, port facilities and services charges, vessel shipping costs (demurrage and dispatch), inspection and assay charges for each shipment are allocated to the correct accounting periods with accruals as required.
Prepare and journalized month-end sales adjustment (adjustment for price, weight and assay result) and follow up un-finalized Copper and Molybdenum concentrates, and Gold Silver Dore sales.
Participate in reviewing monthly operating expenses and month-end financial reports.
Analyze variances and prepare reports by comparing budgeted costs to actual costs.
Prepare weekly and monthly cash forecast and assist in the preparation of annual budget and forecasts in conjunction with finance.
Maintain the stock database for stored concentrates and coal in Mineman and make adjustments when necessary when surveys are conducted.
Build strong, value adding relationships with internal customers, and cross-functional departments.
Ensure that sales contracts practices are compliant with Internal audit control requirements.Keep abreast of, interpret, and provide guidance to commodities team on Commercial Department guidelines.
Prepare automated reports regarding sales and purchase execution, for distribution to End Users and internal stakeholders, e.g. accrual reports to Cost Control area.
Act as the Commodities Superintendent when required.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Qualification in Business or Sales Administration, Bulk Shipping Logistics or related field or equivalent experience.
A minimum of five years prior commercial or shipping experience providing support to operations as part of a commercial or shipping operation team.
Some knowledge of customer invoicing and experience in interpreting shipping statement of facts and lay time statements.High Level IT Skills

Firm commitment to safe work practices
Preferred

Familiarity with application of English contract law in commercial environment.
Good written and spoken Spanish and English.
Previous experience of MINEMAN in concentrate sales contracts.
Experience in use of integrated ERP systems; SAP/JDE etc
Experince in dealing with commodities within the mining industry.
