About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on General Manager to lead the full operations of an exclusive luxury boutique beach resort located on a private island in Panama.
This role is ideal for a dynamic hospitality leader with strong operational discipline, financial expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences in a remote, high-touch luxury environment.
The General Manager will have full accountability for operational performance, guest satisfaction, team leadership, and financial results, while working closely with ownership on strategy, positioning, and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Guest Experience
- Oversee all resort operations including Rooms, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Front Office, Guest Services, and Maintenance.
- Ensure consistent luxury service standards across all guest touchpoints.
- Serve as the senior guest-facing leader, managing VIP relations and resolving escalated matters.
- Maintain SOPs, quality control systems, and regulatory compliance.
Leadership & Culture
- Lead, coach, and develop department heads and operational teams.
- Build a culture rooted in accountability, warmth, and excellence.
- Drive performance management, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Foster strong interdepartmental communication and collaboration.
Financial & Business Management
- Full ownership of P&L performance.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cost control strategies.
- Optimize labor productivity and operational expenses.
- Oversee procurement, vendor management, and inventory controls.
- Partner with ownership on pricing strategy, occupancy targets, and revenue optimization.
Food & Beverage Oversight
- Supervise all F&B outlets, ensuring quality, consistency, and profitability.
- Monitor food and beverage cost controls.
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef on menu development, sourcing, and service standards.
Sales & Strategic Positioning
- Support brand positioning, promotional strategies, and special packages.
- Develop relationships with travel advisors, wedding planners, and tour operators.
- Drive destination weddings, retreats, full-property buyouts, and direct booking initiatives.
- Contribute to guest retention and repeat business strategies.
Required Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of senior leadership experience in hospitality
- Previous experience as a General Manager or Resort Manager preferred
- Background in luxury boutique hotels or resorts
- Strong financial acumen (P&L management, budgeting, cost control)
- Proven ability to lead multi-department teams
- Fluent in English; Spanish strongly preferred
- Comfortable living and working in a remote island environment
- Highly organized, composed under pressure, and solutions-driven
