About Global Glimpse Global Glimpse is a nonprofit organization that provides powerful international travel and leadership opportunities to high school students from diverse backgrounds. Students engage in a structured 16-day international experience focused on service-learning, cultural immersion, and leadership development. The Global Glimpse program builds empathy, agency, and global perspective to empower students to succeed in college and drive change locally and globally. Since 2007, Global Glimpse has served over 6,000 students and 500 educators across 100 high schools and provided over $13.2 million dollars in travel scholarships to ensure that travel is accessible to all.

Program Coordinator Position Overview

Program Coordinators work together in teams of 2 alongside full-time, in-country staff to develop a transformative 16-day itinerary focused on global education, service learning, and leadership development in Panama. Program Coordinators will implement these itineraries from June – August with multiple delegations comprised of 18-22 students and two traveling educators.

Primary Responsibilities:

March - May: Training & Program Development

- Develop a transformative 16-day itinerary for diverse groups of high school students focused on global education, service learning, and leadership development
- Participate in 3 in-country trainings to best understand roles and responsibilities and build community among Program Coordinators
- Network in local communities, partner with local organizations, set-up field trips, organize community-oriented projects, and lead educational and service-learning activities.
- Organize all program logistics including food, transportation, accommodation, health & safety, and relationships with providers.

June - August: Program Execution

- Implement a dynamic 16-day itinerary for 3 or 4 delegations of students.
- Act as a mentor and guide to inspire personal and leadership development in students.
- Problem-solve using resourceful and creative solutions (i.e. changes in schedules, individual and group conflicts).
- Co-facilitate program seminars, educational workshops, and student reflections (in English) to ensure that all students and leaders have a meaningful, fun, safe and educational experience.
- Abide by Global Glimpse protocols in addressing health and safety incidents. Global Glimpse staff are on call 24/7 while students are in-country.

Additional General Administrative Responsibilities:

- Manage a site budget ranging from $8,000-$11,000 diligently tracking expenses and problem-solving budgetary constraints.
- Quickly learn to use GG specific tools and resources in order to inform program development and navigate policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

- Must be 24 years of age or older by June 1st, 2020.
- English and Spanish fluency (written and verbal).
- Experience working or volunteering in youth development. Working with diverse student populations is a plus.
- Demonstrated passion for world issues that translates to the ability to offer formal or informal lessons on wide-ranging subjects such as history, culture, politics, social justice, development or the environment.
- Ability to be patient and sensitive to diverse student needs as they process their experiences and observations.
- Experience working with a multicultural staff team
- Ability to work fluidly in Excel, Word, and Google Drive.
- Strong intrapersonal skills- dependable, team player, flexible, empathetic.
- Strong time management skills. Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
- Experience working in educational travel settings preferred.
- Experience managing budgets preferred.
- Experience with performing live interpretation and written translation (Spanish-English) preferred.
- For local applicants: Experience working with US students or educators preferred.
- For foreign applicants: Experience living and working in the developing world preferred.

Benefits and Compensation:

We offer a competitive monthly salary with an increase for the months of June through August to reflect a heavier summer workload with students in-country.

Monthly Compensation by Country:

- Panamá: USD $800.00
