Job description:
Purpose
Water and Sewage Treatment Plant Operations Professional is responsible for the operation and performance of the water treatment plants on site (potable and sewage). Will be allocated to the laboratory, and control each stage of the process of water treatment by laboratory testing of all the necessary parameters to secure the result that must comply with the local standard related to potable or sewage treatment process. Their role will rule the operation, giving the guidance and technical support to the operators, supervisors and superintendent of the Facility Maintenance team on site.
Key Accountabilities and Challenges
Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
Conduct all tasks in accordance with Health and Safety procedures.
Operate the water and sewage treatment plant, understanding and supervising the production indicator, and regulating the processes to ensure the expected performance.
Elaborate reports at the end of each work shift, indicating any operational issues and the overall status of the plant.
Calibrate and maintain all field and Water and Sewage Treatment Plant equipment according to the operational needs, and the key parameters, including, but not limited to pH levels, turbidity, and conductivity.
Understand the use of different chemicals products and their function within the processes.
Maintain a clean and neat work place according to the standard and SOP’s.
Receive, log, handle, store and dispose of samples for controlling the operation of each plant.
Conduct laboratory testing according to the standard method established for each lab testing of each stage of the water treatment process.
Assist with sample collection and field-testing.
Maintain records of all laboratory activity and lab testing results.
Control reagents consumption for the process and laboratory testing.
Control, report and reduce operational costs, and ensure cost consideration taken with all decisions.
Implement FQM Way culture in the Control Room team - "Bolder, Smarter, Driven, Together."
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Superintendent or Manager of the area.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Education
University technical degree in Electricity, Mechanics, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.
Biology, Chemistry or Science and Food Technology Degree (desirable, not exclusive)
Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong ability to work in a "team" environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
Desirable Intermediate / Advance Computer Software Knowledge: Excel, SharePoint, Power Bi
Demonstrate field working experience
Experiences
5 or more years of experience within Water and Sewage Treatment Plants environments.
Demonstrate Water and Sewage treatment operational and Laboratory experience.
Knowledge of the local regulation: Copanit Standards.
Language
Fluency in Spanish is required, and proficiency in English highly regarded. A willingness to undertake language training desirable.
