We seek a motivated and enthusiastic professional to join our team in Panama. As a Senior Accountant you will be focused on financial accounting and reporting tasks and requirements for ECCO Latin America entities. You will supervise and execute the organization's accounting and tax functions which includes establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, and procedures and compliance with local corporate and regulatory reporting requirements and timelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain and close the books timely on a monthly and annual basis and deliver financial statements and reports as well as internal and external tax reports.
Ensure the quality of monthly financial statements and adherence to ECCO Accounting and Financial Policies, IFRS and local GAAP.
Ensure all Balance Sheet reconciliations are complete in a timely manner and well supported.
Oversee and execute the day-to-day accounting activities including but not limited to Fixed Assets, Accounts Payables, Accounts
Receivables, Intercompany Transactions, Retail Accounting, Costing, Inventory, Capital investments, bank transfers, expense reports and invoice processing.
Active focus on continuous improvements in processes and internal controls.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Support budgeting and forecasting of P&L and balance sheet/cash flow as required.
Work with Audit/Tax professionals to ensure ECCO LATAM entities are in financial compliance with tax and accounting requirements.
Ensure corporate reports are filed with public offices as required.
Effectively manage and develop subordinate staff, providing for coaching and professional development opportunities as appropriate.
Point of contact with HQ and local LATAM Accounting and Finance teams.
Active participation in new system implementation and system enhancement projects.
Provide insights and analysis on P&L / Balance Sheet / Working Capital developments.
Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications – Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting (MBA a plus)
CPA required.
5+ years in Accounting.
2+ years in a leadership or people management position.
3+ years’ experience in Retail related companies and Multinational companiesMinimum Qualifications – Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated experience with SAP a must
Proficiency with MS Office.
Strong organization and multitasking skills.
High level of accuracy with emphasis on attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and work in a team environment.
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally (both verbally and written).
Ability to work professionally with external customers and vendors.
Ability to read, write and speak Spanish and English at a proficient level.
