As a Senior Back-end Developer, the employee will lead the Your Career at IBM migration to the Your Learning platform for back-end API/service refactoring in collaboration with the development team in 2020. The developers of the team are in Europe and in the US. The Senior Back-end Developer will work closely together with the Lead Developers, Solution Architects, Iteration Manager, Product Owner and Offering Owner of the project and with the Your Learning development team. After the migration is completed, the employee will work on the new feature requirements and operations of the Your Career at IBM tool with the team.The Senior Back-end Developer works in an agile, collaborative environment across software architecture, understanding both front-end and back-end processes, while specializing in the back-end. The Senior Back-end Developer works with client-server architectures, networking protocols, application development, and databases, uses and develops RESTful APIs and web services. He/She understands user and system requirements, develops and uses object oriented programming, multi-threading and concurrency. He/She actively participates in planning, analyzing, designing, and constructing databases, helps to implement industry standards and best practices for database security and capability of analyzing and defining database and information security requirements. The Senior Back-end Developer develops structured query language (SQL) queries, back-end database stored procedures, or NoSQL queries.
The developers of the project are responsible for developing the application that is compliant with ITSS, Accessibility standard (CI 162) and design standards.
About the project:
The Your Career at IBM corporate application allows employees to view / assess their skills & expertise, to express interest of new job opportunities, to receive the job requisitions with matching skills requirements and to identify the skill/experience gaps of the new job opportunities so that recommendations of learning courses can be delivered. It includes the Career Conversation initiative and provides a team overview for the managers. There is a close collaboration with the Your Learning application both from a technical and team perspective. In 2020, this collaboration will be even closer by rewriting the existing Your Career at IBM application on the Your Learning platform.The missions of the Your Career at IBM project are to improve job mobility and reskill / upskill IBMers.
Responsibilities:
· Understands both front-end and back-end concerns, while specializing in the back-end
· Leads the Your Career at IBM migration to the Your Learning platform for back-end API/service refactoring in collaboration with the development team
· Develops new back-end services/APIs
· Understands user and system requirements.
· Proficient in Java (Java 11, 13 are preferred)
· Skilled in RESTful Services, SQL, Cloudant
· Participates in the Project meetings, using the Agile methodology
