Job Purpose
The role of a Senior Technical Engineer is to drive Pole Star Technical support team to deliver best in breed services to both internal and external customers. You must be a highly competent support analyst who is willing to go the extra mile to provide world class systems support. This position is integral to adding value to our customer relationships via the skills and service we provide
Responsibilities:
Provide advanced technical support in a 24 x 7 ‘follow the sun’ global support environment, supporting customer facing software applications, including issue resolution, problem root cause analysis and customer service review meetings.
Issue and Problem resolution: follow process and logically fault find in end to end production processes – tracking issues though multiple systems to determine cause of issues.
Ability to provide good quality issue feedback

Troubleshooting, the use of sophisticated tools, analysis of logs, and coordination of all available resources to resolve issues.
Develop and debug scripts (Python) to facilitate support and data transfer requirements
Analysis of and improvement of production support processes
Mentor Junior technical engineers, support analysts and IT staff by ensuring knowledge and technical skills transfer
Develop and document end to end processes
Good awareness of when issues need to be escalated
Contribute knowledge and experience to development projects
Maintain and improved professional working practices within the company

Key skills
High proficiency in Linux/Unix (5+ years)
One or more scripting languages (Python preferred) (3+ years)
AWS experience (Elastic load balances, Cloud Front, Route 53) (3+ years)
VMWare experience (3+ years)
Queuing technology experience (SQS, Rabbit) (3+ years)
Database Experience (ETL, Indexes, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Cassandra) (3+ years)
Experience T1 and T2 technical support
Strong decision making skills
Strong communication and Team working skills
Pro-active working style
