Job description:
Purpose
Supervise and monitor the execution of electric shovel planned replacement programs in field and workshop in order to ensure compliance with the actions and quality control to ensure maintenance best practice of the asset. Identifying human resources and material needs, carrying out actions based on the variability of the operation, and under the company's standards, ensuring compliance with technical and administrative procedures, contributing to compliance with established maintenance management indicators, and optimizing the use of the assigned resources. Ensure ongoing required training and development of the employees as per role is followed to ensure the skill level is to a high standard.
Key Accountabilities and Challenges
This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the process plant control room.
Coordinate activities of your team in accordance with the weekly plan
Participate in the formulation of the maintenance plans
Liaise with the leadership team on performance issues
Embed the culture of quality repairs and continuous improvement in the team
Supervising a team of Shovels Technicians to ensure safety and maintenance policies are adhered to ensure day to day tasks are performed within the Workshop
Support infrastructure, process and systems in accordance with maintenance methodologies
Carry out planned repairs and lube servicing in the workshop and field
Managing & reporting of the parts availability
Ad hoc duties as assigned by Superintendent / Manage
Supervise staff and ensure good timekeeping and attendance
Prioritise workload as per equipment priority and production requirements
Carry out technical training and offer advice to our local maintenance staff
Continually find ways to reduce maintenance operating costs on the drills
Carryout site assessments and report poor mining practices to the Mine Operations teams
Carry out routine maintenance and repairs to the P&H Electrical shovels, while training subordinate employees
Continually find ways to reduce maintenance operating costs on the shovels
Execute maintenance efficiently, effectively and safely.
Develop scopes of work for repairs and large scale shutdowns for the shovels
Carryout site assessments and report poor mining practices to the Mine Operations team
Provide mentoring for subordinates, including on-going technical and none-technical training and development, performance management, conflict management and crisis management
Ensure all work is captured in JD Edwards and ensure technical failure reports are compiled and communicated to foster a continuous improvement maintenance environment
Work closely with Planners and contribute to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement going forward
Foster relationships with the Reliability departments to ensure that strategies are up to date and include all RCA’s
Control, report and reduce operational costs, and ensure cost consideration taken with all decisions.
Implement FQM Way culture in the Control Room team - "Bolder, Smarter, Driven, Together."
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Coordinator and Superintendent.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Education
Tertiary Education in a related field is required
Qualified Electrical trade
Training qualification is desirable
Studies in Maintenance Management advantageous
Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong ability to work in a "team" environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
Minimum Trade Qualification
Cert IV Training qualification or equivalent
RCA Qualifications (desirable)
Microsoft (Excel, word, project etc.)
Experience
Must have minimum 5 years’ experience on P&H 4100 XPC/AC Shovels and experience in workshop environments
Minimum 5 years' experience of which at least 2 should have been in a leadership role
Solid experience across a broad range of large mining equipment
Experience with coordinating and organizing maintenance activities
Computer literate and experience with a CMMS
Have previous experience in developing and implementing systems and processes
Language
Fluency in English is required and proficiency in Spanish highly regarded. A willingness to undertake language training desirable.

Cobre Panama is a remote site and the position is offered as Residential.
